PROGRAM

We are excited to share the details of our Rotomould25 program of events.

The conference begins on Monday, 19 May 2025, with an optional workshop, followed by registration and plenary sessions, and concludes with closing sessions and lunch on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.

Included in our program, we have planned two special evening events. The Price Plastics Welcome Dinner will take place at an offsite venue on the Monday evening, and our Matrix Polymers Conference Dinner will take place on the Tuesday evening. Both of these dinners offer a chance to relax and network while enjoying some of Hobart's finest local beer, wine, and produce.

When booking your flights and accommodation, please ensure you allow sufficient time for arrival.

8:00am - 1:00pm | The 7 stages of rotational moulding | Dr Gareth McDowell, 493k Limited

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.  Dr Gareth will be giving a very useful seminar on the “7 Stages of Rotational Moulding”. Take a journey through the roto-moulding cycle.  From the initial heating of the powder to the post release cooling.  Dr. Gareth’s seminar is designed to help you to understand and ensure you get the most from each and every stage.  You are invited to join him in recognising and understanding the importance of each stage and how it can affect your production process, your parts and ultimately your PROFIT.

As always, Dr Gareth will not allow anyone to sleep at the back of the room while he imparts his knowledge on polyethylene, temperature monitoring and a variety of Rotomoulding knowledge. He will also be bringing his world-famous RotoRocket benchtop machine along and if everyone is well behaved they might see it in action. Of course, there will be plenty of opportunities for questions, where everyone can benefit from the answers provided by this Rotomoulding expert with over 20 years' experience.

Don’t miss out on the ability to TAKE CONTROL of your moulding when you fully understand the 7 Stages of Rotational Moulding.

9:00am - 9:30am | Highlights from a life in Rotomoulding | Gavin McDonnell, Eagle Rota Moulding

From a chance introduction to Polyethylene foam in 1991, a journey of innovation and growth unfolded. Gavin’s presentation highlights how an initial spark of interest led to a series of ambitious machinery development projects. What began as a deep dive into this new material quickly evolved into a learning curve that resulted in groundbreaking solutions, such as jetty floats, submersible aquarium floors, and septic waste treatment tanks. Over the years, Gavin tackled complex challenges, from military-grade naval designs to multi-layer foam technologies. With a blend of creativity, expertise, and problem-solving, he turned these obstacles into high-performance, game-changing products.

Practical troubleshooting tips and techniques are also shared, providing invaluable knowledge for mastering foam systems in any project.

11:00am - 11:30am | Taking control of part thickness in rotational moulding | Dr Gareth McDowell, 493K Limited

Thickness Control and Recording is important in Rotational Moulding. Too much variation and your parts will not meet their design specifications in either strength or dimensions. If you take control of your thickness you may find that you are taking much better control of your rotational moulding. This presentation will help you on that path.
