How Rotational Moulding Supports Sustainable Wastewater Solutions
28th August 2025
As global demand for sustainable infrastructure grows, Australian company and ARMA member Suncoast Waste Water Management, the manufacturer of the well-known Ozzi Kleen systems, is leading the way with rotationally moulded wastewater treatment tanks that prioritise both environmental performance and long-term durability.
At the heart of Ozzi Kleen’s offering is the RP10 Sewerage Treatment System, which is fully aerobic, odour-free, and able to recycle wastewater into water that can be reused for gardens and landscaping. This reduces water usage and helps householders lower their environmental footprint.
Sustainable Manufacturing with Rotational Moulding
The Ozzi Kleen tank is a perfect example of how rotational moulding can support the circular economy. The company manufactures a multi-layered LLDPE tank using a blend of virgin and recycled polyethylene, with up to 75% of the tank’s material content made from recycled LLDPE. This is possible thanks to advancements in rotomoulding technology that allow recycled polymer in bead form to be used in the sintering process, traditionally reliant on micronised powder.
The three-layered construction includes:
- An outer layer of melt-compounded virgin micronised powder for UV resistance and durability;
- A middle layer of recycled PE bead, NATA-lab batch tested to meet AS/NZS standards;
- An inner layer of micronised PE to provide a smooth, impact-resistant surface.
By integrating recycled content without compromising structural integrity, Ozzi Kleen demonstrates that rotational moulding can produce high-performance, sustainable infrastructure products.
Designed to Last
Rotomoulded as a seamless, heavy-duty polyethylene tank, the RP10 system is up to 20mm thick and weight for weight, 100 times stronger than concrete. The tank resists the acidity of sewage and eliminates the risk of seepage or root intrusion—common issues with trad
itional systems. Its 500-year half-life speaks to the long-term value and sustainability of using polyethylene in critical infrastructure.
The manufacturing process is equally advanced, incorporating temploggers for precise multilayer monitoring and PIAT (Peak Internal Air Temperature) to ensure quality and consistency.
Why It Matters
The increasing need for water reuse solutions makes systems like Ozzi Kleen more important than ever. By combining innovative wastewater treatment technology with industry leading rotational moulding techniques to make use of recycled content, the company proves that sustainability and performance are not mutually exclusive.
At ARMA, we’re proud to showcase how our industry is contributing to environmental outcomes. Ozzi Kleen’s success is a testament to what’s possible when design, material science, and smart manufacturing come together to address real-world challenges.
